Top Stories of 2015: Number 3 – Religion and Faith in Canada

For the last 10 days of 2015, the Angus Reid Institute is counting down our top 10 stories of the year, based on the total number of page views they received at angusreid.org. This is number 3.


Nearly three-quarters of Canadians (73%) say they believe in God or a higher power, but only 30 per cent say they’re inclined to embrace religion.

These were two of the main takeaways of a comprehensive, three-part study on religion and faith in Canada that the Angus Reid Institute conducted in March.

The study – which looked at everything from church attendance, to beliefs about sexual morality and moral relativism, to attitudes toward different religious groups in society – became one of the most popular and enduring pieces of research on the ARI website in 2015.
