Story #6 – Healthcare in 2019

An ambitious four-part series looked at the picture of healthcare in Canada heading into a new decade, with a particular focus on the role an aging population will play in the emotional and financial costs to Canadians in coming years. Among the notable findings:

  • Access to healthcare is a significant problem for one-in-five Canadians 55 and older
  • One-in-four Canadians over 30 are already looking after their loved ones
  • One-in-six Canadians 55 and over have failed to take medication as prescribed due to cost
  • Two-thirds of Canadians worry about outliving their savings
