Trudeau marriage break-up shows how the role of political spouse has changed

Is there more to say about the Trudeau-Grégoire-Trudeau separation? My editor says yes, and one doesn’t gainsay her. Once more unto the breach.
So far, the takes have ranged from the sympathetic, to the sensible, to the spectacularly bad. The fact is, about two-in-five Canadian marriages end, meaning there is no shortage of people in this country who have some first-hand knowledge of what Justin and Sophie are going through. Their break-up is simultaneously newsworthy (for the moment) and utterly banal.
