Story #4 – Gun Control Ban

An issue that continues to garner attention in Canada is gun control. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated in September that his government would ban semi-automatic assault weapons and allow cities to ban handguns if re-elected. Six-in-ten Canadians (61%) say they would support an outright ban on civilian possession of handguns – something being pushed for by some of the country’s largest cities[1]. Support increases to three-quarters (75%) when considering a ban on assault weapons.
