The Angus Reid Institute is a national, not-for-profit, non-partisan public opinion research organization established to enhance and encourage better understanding of issues and trends affecting economic, social, governance, philanthropy, public administration, domestic and foreign policy in Canada and its world.

We are seeking a Research Associate to join the Angus Reid Institute. This is a full-time position, based in Vancouver, B.C.

You will be a key contributor on a co-operative team; creating survey questionnaires, conducting secondary research and writing reports under deadline.

You’re well-versed in Canadian and international political, social and economic trends. You have an understanding of research and polling methodology and process. You aren’t necessarily a research expert, but you’re willing to learn.

You will also be called upon to create web content, so experience with WordPress and some basic HTML/CCS ability is an asset. So is a working knowledge of French.

Funding levels for this role are between $50,000 to $80,000, depending on experience and ability.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating survey questionnaires
  • Analyzing data
  • Writing accurate, engaging reports
  • Researching policy
  • Creating graphs, charts and basic infographics
  • Programming surveys

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Journalism, Sociology, Economics or Political Science
  • Ability to handle heavy writing workload under tight deadlines
  • Superb writing, research and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to quickly adjust priorities to respond to pressing demands
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
